Hostal Plaza Mayor

Something was going on in Madrid that jacked up hotels all around the city so I took a chance in this suburb of Madrid and it paid off Its a short commuter rail ride from Chamartin (c2 or any Cercanais train towards Guadalajara), then a short walk from the station up to the hotel. Plenty of shops (including a well-stocked Carrefour) and restaurants on the way or nearby The hotel is quite “retro” but all original - 1970s vibe but with great showers and fast WiFi. The breakfast buffet was the best I saw on my economy tour of Spain. Staff was very friendly and helpful. In the morning I needed a taxi to the airport and they arranged it for me. Their choice was punctual, drove very nicely and cost about €23 door to door. I could also have taken a bus from a stop just around the corner.

The only thing I’d say is the marble or tile hallways are noisy so anyone coming and going is quite loud, whether they mean to or not. But this reminded me of trips long ago and I just smiled. Its a beautiful place.

Close so close to train stop

People smoke on the streets and u can smell the tobacco a bit not much but

Very elegant hotel. Enjoyable stay, staff was helpful and informative. Very close to many food/bar options, including 2 (small)supermarkets. Close to barajas airport as well. Would definitely stay again.

Elevator is small and does take it's sweet time moving between floors, but I'm glad it had an elevator so not a bad thing.

Nothing

Clearness, confort, accessibility, noise... Nothing as in the pictures or reviews. Could be ok for half of price
