The feel of staying in a Japanese residence that had good wooden bones rather than the feel of a modern hotel in a town rich in heritage.
The 10 year old loved the upper bunk upstairs, a level that feels like a loft, the sweets in the fridge, the provision of English language Youtube for Minecraft videos ( less keen on that use of time myself ) and good provision of charging options. A better and surprising interest for him was the Scale Museum where he spent sime time weighing items with the impressive collection of old scales.
We all enjoyed the coffee/tea/hot chocolate sachets and the downsrairs furnishings, and made good use of the washing machine and clothes lune.
Excellent location between Matsumoto Rail station and Matsumoto Castle, position of residence being very near the Canal made it a navigational breeze to get to the historic merchant quater and cafes/resturants and the quick access to the bus/train terminus facillitated an early daytrip to Kamikochi Valley.
The light switch options for upstsirs were largely downstairs. Without light the upper level was dark as the one small window had no view (though this is good if you want to sleep in)
Matress seemed a little hard, but this may reflect Japanese preferences.

A really sweet historic building in a great location with easy check-in. Many thoughtful touches which we really appreciated, like a power board to charge multiple devices, good quality coffee etc. Having a separate toilet to the bath was great for a family of 4. A lot of love has been put into this place and you can really feel it.
It was very hard to dry clothes and we had to take a bag of damp clothes to our next accommodation.

We are very happy with the place except for the gas heater that's not very pleasant to smell. Anyway, it's a great accommodation and everyone is happy. Thank you :)
