Disappointing stay
Porthleven itself was lovely and we really enjoyed the location and views,
Local people were lovely and welcoming. The Harbour area was a delight.
Unfortunately, the condition and cleanliness of the house really let it down.
Although there were six of us, we had booked and paid for the entire house. Before arrival we were asked how many beds we would be using, but not which bedrooms we wanted. The owner therefore decided which beds were made up and effectively where members of our family would sleep. Having paid for the full property, we felt we should have been able to choose which bedrooms suited our group.
The cleanliness was also disappointing. There was mould in the showers, sticky/dirty banisters, numerous cobwebs, dirty blinds and curtains, and the cream leather sofa was so dirty that we used our own throws before sitting on it. We also found plates and dishes in the cupboards with food still stuck to them and had to soak and wash them before use.
There were quite a few maintenance issues as well. Several windows didn't open or close properly, with tissue stuffed around one window to stop the draught. The handle on one of the attic windows was hanging off, and we struggled to close the bathroom window at night. Some light bulbs weren't working, the dishwasher plinth fell down every time the dishwasher was opened, and the freezer badly needed defrosting—the bottom drawer was frozen in place and couldn't be put back properly once removed.
More concerning was the broken bottom step leading into the garden, which was cracked in two and was a safety hazard, particularly as we had two elderly family members with us.
We were also surprised that there was no key for the patio doors, meaning we couldn't lock them. This left us uncomfortable about the security of our belongings while we were out.
but unfortunately the overall cleanliness, maintenance and security of the property were well below the standard we expected for the price we paid.

Who has own vehicle the house is nice but outdated furniture. But who does not have own vehicle it is real no for them .
The view
Only one bin bag for 6 days stay and few toilet rolls for 9 people. There was no washing liquid for washing utensils. The steepy road is so uncomfortable without car . Who has vehicle the house is star for them . But we didn’t take our car to the trip so we suffered to get on the house from bus stop .
