Moorea Beach Lodge was perfect…exactly what we were looking for for our stay on this beautiful island. With its lovely grounds and bungalows set right on the beach and lagoon, it really is a slice of paradise. The staff are so welcoming and everything you need is on hand, provided in a really relaxed laid back way. The kayaks that they provide for use are a great way to see the lagoon, and they even brought in Tahitian dancers and musicians for us on one night. They also provide bikes for use, making it easy to visit the nearby restaurants.

Beautiful property. On-site parking. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The common areas are very inviting. The sunset view is priceless. There is a fairly large shared kitchen where coffee and tea are available throughout the day. There are also a couple of places to walk to for meals. There was evening entertainment as the sun set. The gentlemen playing the instruments seemed to be enjoying themselves and it was a joy to hear their traditional music and observe the women dance. The room was comfortable and had a beautiful view. It was a pleasure to sit in the dock and just take in the salt water air and pleasant trade winds as the sunset into the horizon.

The concept of bungalows and a large hub for cooking and hanging out is great in theory. The design elements in the main house were cool and the vistas over the lagoon as well as of the sunsets were really nice.
There was a gap of about an inch between the doors to our bungalow which not only allowed mosquitoes to enter but also ensured the winds whistled in whenever it was windy which made it difficult to sleep. We mentioned this to the person at reception and they advised there was nothing they could do. A timber batten on the door is all that is needed (it looks like one had been previously glued there and subsequently removed).
The overall vibe of the place was quite dull, I think perhaps due to there not being staff on site beyond about 2pm. An on site bar or something could be nice to bring guests together. Other than lying on the beach during the day, guests didn’t really tend to make the most of and enjoy the communal facilities provided in the house which made it feel quite underused and void of atmosphere.
