About this apartment rental
We offer a vacation apartment with a separate entrance. The apartment features a living/sleeping area and a kitchenette, a small room with a bed, and a shower. Located on the first floor, it accommodates 2–3 people and offers a covered balcony—the perfect spot to relax. Guests are also welcome to use the lawn and barbecue area.
Vacation guests only; no pets allowed.
Smoking is permitted only outside the vacation rental.
Internet access is available.
The restroom is located in the entrance area of the vacation rental, in the stairwell.
From our apartment, you’ll find a wide range of recreational activities, whether it’s relaxing hikes along the Rennsteig through the Thuringian Forest or a more active bike ride, strolling through the historic old town of Schmalkalden, or shopping in Erfurt.
You’ll also find outdoor and indoor swimming pools in the immediate area, as well as an adventure mine, an observatory, and a weapons museum in Suhl; Wartburg Castle in Eisenach; Mini-a-thür; Zwergenpark; a summer toboggan run on the Inselsberg; and a mountain lake.
For winter sports enthusiasts, Oberhof—with its biathlon competitions, etc. (ski tunnel)—is a well-known destination. You can try cross-country skiing, skating, or downhill skiing for yourself.

The home is small, but clean and everything you need is there (e.g. toaster, egg boiler). We were welcomed very kindly, and the owners (who live in the other part of the house with grandma and -pa) gave us marmelade and pastry. If you want to walk the 'Rennsteig', you have to drive to a startpoint by car, but the mommelsteinweg is just 50m away. We enjoyed the area and went to Schmalkalden, Saalfeld (grotten and grottoneum), Hohe Warten Stausee ("Little Norway"), Meiningen (walk the trail 'der Meiniger'), Grobe Inselberg, Mabkopf and Erfurt. The Mommelsteinweg to the waterfall in Trusetal is also very beuatiful. We had to drive a lot, because close to home there is not enough to enjoy yourself for a week. There is supermarket nearby (Norma, 5min drive, the one in Hohleborn is open till 20.00h), but not many restaurants. However you can cook by yourself, since the kitchen is well equiped. We had a wonderfull vacation and can recommend it to every active person who likes old cities as well as walking through nature.

This second floor apartment was spotlessly clean. The owners were very helpful, the bed was quite comfortable and it is a very cozy little place. The balcony was semi-private. The WC was on the first floor but that did not pose a problem. This is a wonderful area.
