I received a warm welcome and was able to get a parking space in the hotel car park. The attractive hotel was in a very nice location, a short walk from the Castle and the town centre. My bedroom and shower-room were lovely and very well appointed, with handsome vintage furniture. I had a comfortable chair with a pretty view to the front of the hotel onto the square with trees and grass. There were also some informative books of the area. Breakfast was excellent.
Worth mentioning, but not a complaint.
The chef was ill, therefore dinner could not be provided in The Orangery which I was looking forward to. The hotel informed me of this a couple of days before, which was very thoughtful and helpful.

Fabulous location fabulous staff
Only complaint would be the pillows,
They are not quite firm enough

Charming and warm ambience.
Nothing really - staff were exceptional.

A short walk into town and the railway station.
The place was more a B&B than a hotel and could just about be considered 4 star, more 3 star. It was pleasant enough, and good value for a 3 star but I'm just annoyed that I was fooled by the photos and rating.
