Bridge Cottage is truly unique, and it feels like being welcomed into someone's home...
Bridge Cottage is a veritable cornucopia of treasures, each seemingly able to tell its own story. There were some lovely old-fashioned (that's a compliment!) touches: I'd forgotten how good it is to have sheets and blankets, beautiful china, fine linen... And Miranda is a most gracious host, lending us torches so we could walk to the (very good) pubs , only a few minutes away. We would certainly come again if heading in this direction - tempting to make a special journey, but Devon is a long way! Many thanks....
Nothing, really - it's a rather rough track down from the main road, and you have to approach it from the right direction, but it's all worth it when you get there!

The worst place I have ever stayed
Extremely disappointing stay – poor cleanliness, unhygienic food preparation and an uncomfortable experience
I was absolutely shocked by the condition of this bed and breakfast. The entrance to the property was extremely difficult to find, and unfortunately, things went downhill from there.
The house was shabby, dirty and poorly maintained, both inside and out. It was cluttered with an overwhelming amount of belongings, unpleasant furniture and bizarre items on the walls. The property was dark and gloomy, with poor lighting, drab decor, dirty carpets and rugs, and a very noticeable lack of housekeeping. There was also an unpleasant smell throughout the house.
The bedroom and bathroom were particularly filthy and fell well below any acceptable standard for paying guests. Cleanliness should be the bare minimum when offering accommodation, and I found the condition of these rooms genuinely shocking.
One incident that particularly disgusted me was witnessing the host pick up dog faeces with her bare hands, without gloves or a poo bag, directly in front of me. This immediately raised serious concerns for me about hygiene.
As a result, I felt extremely reluctant to eat any food prepared by the host. I was also uncomfortable seeing her preparing food with her long hair worn loose, particularly after witnessing the incident with the dog faeces. It significantly affected my confidence in the hygiene standards surrounding food preparation.
I was also concerned when the host advised me to let my dog run freely in the adjoining field, despite the potential danger posed by wildlife. I did not consider this appropriate advice without proper consideration for my dog's safety.
Another unexpected aspect of my stay was discovering that the host did not sleep at the property.
