The location was right by the lake itself, and the view from the room gazes across the lake to Mt Fuji herself. Stunning view. There was a traditional sentiment/onsen style bath on the property which you can book a private time slot for and it was nicer than the pictures look and wonderfully warm water. The room is a traditional ryokan style with tatami mat floor and futons which is a fun experience. Despite the chill weather the room remained pleasantly warm overnight too and we got to wake up and peek out the window at Mt Fuji shrouded in fog then slowly appearing. The aesthetic is gorgeous traditional Japan. The staff were kind and accommodating and one of the staff spoke excellent English to make up for the gaps in my intermediate level Japanese. There’s also a car park in front so if you rented a car you have a free space to park it in (though the driveway was a little intimidating to navigate)
I can’t think of anything except there was a period from 10pm to (I think) 5 or 6am where the doors were all locked so no chance to do a late night stroll by the lakeside looking up at the stars, but thats not a real problem.

Beautiful Traditional Japanese property on the edge of the beautiful Lake Kawaguchi, a lovely chance to experience a bit of Japanese traditional life, loved the night we spent here while passing past Mt Fuji

Charming, simple and old Ryokan. Lovely staff, perfect location, tasty breakfast.
1) The air con needs to be clean, it was so dusty that dust balls would fall on my futon during the night.
2) Not allowing a shower in the morning is outrageous and a big deal breaker. Never saw a ryokan that closes showers outside of staying hours, it's usually from 10 AM~ to 3 PM~. Nothing justifies this, and it creates a might uncomfortable day for the guests. I went to work looking like a teenager who stayed up all night, and I saw my poor neighbor washing his armpits at the sink, kind of like a cat bath.
