Hotel Restaurant du Centre et du Lauragais

Location and staff

Closed on Sunday and Monday’s

For the price it was good value. Staff very nice, very good food in the restaurant

Slight smell in room on arrival but soon cleared.

Central hotel, room comfortable.

Breakfast was very basic. Only had it one morning out of two.

The hotel is centrally located in Castelnaudary. The restaurant dining room was beautiful. (We didn't have dinner there, though, because we were so put off by the frosty reception we received when we checked in).

The hotel is locked until 5:30 PM. There isn't even an option to store your bags somewhere until it opens. We arrived at around 4 PM after bicycling all day, wanting to check in to shower and relax before dinner. The person handling check-ins was unfriendly and unhelpful. She arrived around 5:20 PM and didn't make eye contact with us, even though she saw us sitting in front of the hotel with our loaded bicycles. She went in and locked the door behind her, only to open it a little after 5:30 PM. She didn't know the code for the bicycle storage area (across in the street in a restaurant basement) and told me to go across the street at 6:30 PM to get the code once the restaurant opened. The hotel is fine as a basic place to stay, but it is worn for wear, and the room is incredibly small (particularly the bathroom), with limited storage area.
