The incredibly warm, family-like welcome and the great hospitality from the staff and the owner. The exceptional, healthy breakfast that goes way beyond the usual hotel buffet. The bedding was extremely comfortable, and the hotel's location is perfect for walking to Sultanahmet's main sights, plus the stunning rooftop terrace views are an amazing bonus.
The area is very touristy and can get a bit busy, but that is the price to pay for being so perfectly located in the historic heart of the city.

The hotel is located in a very quiet street with many restaurants and cafes within a short walk. It is also close to the main attractions like the Blue mosque. The Galata bridge is about a 30 minute walk away. My wife and I were booked into room 401 which is the suite which comes with a balcony. From the balcony there are great views over the water (though there is a semi derelict building opposite which spoils the view somewhat). We stayed at the Artefes early October 2026 for five nights at the end a 15 day driving tour of the country so we stayed in around a dozen hotels in total. I would say that the breakfast at this hotel was easily the best of the holiday. There was a great selection of the usual breakfast food but also each day there were a constantly changing selection of very tasty additional items so there was something new every morning..
The coffee machine at breakfast was frequently not working. Staff tried to fix it but repairs were only temporary.
