Astor Museum Hostel is generally a good place.
Unfortunately, my experience was ruined by the staff member I encountered at the reception. I arrived with a complete, clear electronic copy of my international passport showing my personal details and all the pages of the document, yet he refused to accept it and insisted on seeing the physical passport. Despite my attempts to explain my situation, he showed little understanding and *my booking was cancelled, leaving me stranded late at night (about 11:50pm) to search for alternative accommodation.*
It is disappointing that one staff member's attitude and handling of a situation can undermine the reputation of an otherwise good hostel. Management should invest in proper staff training, professionalism, communication and customer service, and ensure that reception staff treat guests with courtesy, respect and sound judgement. The hostel should prioritise employing and retaining competent, professional staff who know how to handle difficult situations appropriately.
