About this cabin rental
**SADLY, THE GOLF COURSE IS NO LONGER IN OPERATION DUE TO THE DEVASTATION WREAKED BY HURRICANE HELENE IN SEPTEMBER, 2024**
This cozy cabin offers everything you need for a great vacation or long weekend in a beautiful setting . It is located in the Mt. Mitchell Golf Course community at the base of Mt. Mitchell, the highest elevation east of the Mississippi. October Hill is just across the street from the 14th fairway and just a few hundred yards from the South Toe River.
The location is very private but also convenient to everything you could want in the mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking trails, trout fishing, tubing, biking, and numerous crafts shops and galleries, including the Penland School of Crafts, are all just minutes away. The Mayland Earth to Sky Park with the Dark Sky Observatory and Planatorium is also close by. There are numerous hiking trails within3 miles of our location, including 2 waterfall hikes, Roaring Fork Falls and Setrock Creek Falls.
The charming mountain town of Burnsville is a short drive with many unique shops and great restaurants.
October Hill is 3 levels, with a bedroom and full bathroom on each level. The huge family room has hardwood floors, a rock fireplace with gas logs, 25 foot vaulted ceiling and lots of glass to enjoy the beautiful views. A large deck wraps around the cabin for outside dining and relaxing. A charcoal grill is provided. There is plenty of parking with a circular driveway. A security device is mounted on the exterior front porch of the cabin.
Our location is very close to the golf course and clubhouse, 20 minutes to Burnsville, 5 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway and 1 hour to Asheville.
October Hill was named for our Bed & Breakfast in Waynesville. When we sold the B & B, we wanted to keep the name, so when we acquired our mountain cabin home, it became October Hill.

What an experience! For sleeping six, the place is very comfortable. Each bedroom is on a different floor with its own bathroom. Gorgeous location and great accommodations. Everything we needed was already there done to charcoal. Highly recommended for folk with dogs, great place for beautiful morning walks. Very close to a beautiful waterfall (5 min), and a 2 minute walk to a nearby stream that our pups really enjoyed!

Our stay was great but the cabin was extremely dusty everywhere.. the doors, the curtains, the closet doors and windows. There was also a few bugs around the house but I can’t blame that on anyone but the surrounding. The towels and sheets also smelled very old, like they’ve been stored for a long time. Other than that, we made the best out of our stay.
