Thiezac is a wonderful base for hiking, and Maison Jeannette is a lovely place to stay! Chrystelle welcomed us in English, Hugues pulled the perfect trail map out of his hat each day (and even guided us around himself one day), and the locals were incredibly warm and helpful. The house itself is beautifully tucked away on a slope, offering stunning views, excellent beds that ensure a great night's sleep and a lovely spot to sit outside and take in the evening. Dinner times brought a true sense of French community as everyone gathered around the table; being the only non-French guests there just added to the authentic charm as we tried to pick up on the conversations around us. That same slope did make parking a bit of a nail-biter for the less experienced drivers on this type of terrain, but with a helping hand, you get a long way!
If we had to name one minor flaw, it would be the breakfast. While the homemade yogurt, fresh fruit, and sweet pastries were lovely, we really found ourselves craving some eggs and cheese for fuel. Especially since the Cantal region has so many amazing local cheeses to offer.

L'accueil a été très agréable, nous avons apprécié la gentillesse et la disponibilité de nos hôtes. Hugues a pris le temps de nous concocter des circuits touristiques, avec les bonnes adresses qui vont bien. Chrystelle quant à elle, nous a régalés de ses bons dîners à base des légumes du jardin et de spécialités locales. Les petits déjeuners sont complets avec les produits faits maison.
Rien, à part peut-être, la météo...
