Hit & Miss like most reviews, Hit - location/walks/surroundings are amazing. Miss-management
Staff check in fantastic at the time ! Rooms/cabin spa suite with fireplace no tv, no Wi-Fi, no phone reception, small bar fridge all manageable for us. Restaurant meals and fine dining experience was expensive but worth it, service from our waitress made our special dinner. The several tracks from the hotel are short walks are well worth the effort, distance to shuttle bus into cradle mountain walking distance from reception.
Overall effort or lack of customer service for this premium location hotel just feels wrong, like previous negative reviews of this hotel it tends to be the same song. Meaning the responses by management to the 1-star reviews are just that "responses "no action. i.e.
- Rooms are still dated, a little shabby (we can deal with it for the experience of the location, but it should reflect the price, and it doesn't most people won't accept it.)
- Booked restaurant dinner for special occasion went missing so we postponed a birthday dinner and booked a couple days later? again, it has happened to so many prior guests over months of separation. why does it re occur ?
- 3 people in our group walking to our room up the back of the resort with only one umbrella in rain? ask nicely if we could have an extra one after spending several hundred dollars fine dining, simply not possible. really? again, people have previously complained about umbrellas or lack of.
- Room service or cleaning sometimes just doesn't happen? the absolute basics like towels, coffee, "water", sugar and the like, "one day replenished one day not".
-Maintenance of property - previous guests complain several months ago about potholes, dirty deck chairs, no lighting on paths to cabins, roofs leaking, phones not working in rooms etc. still the same.
-Customer Service on our last night ! we luckily were lucky enough to discuss all our issues with the same member who checked us in. This staff member listened, apologized and took notes to action with the manager and contact us. The simple empathy showed made all the difference for us. however, we are yet to hear or see any communication from management.
This place is a gateway to one of the most beautiful mountains in the world unfortunately I would stay elsewhere for half the price like Discovery Resorts or Highlander and catch the bus from the visitor centre minutes away.

Recommended hotel as a base for exploring the Cradle Mountain National Park.
Excellent location right at the entrance to the National Park. The staff were excellent and helpful. The hotel has a cosy lodge/reception area. Dining and breakfast were pretty good although somewhat costly. The rooms are clean and cosy. Can park as vehicle right in front of your room. Walking to the lodge from your room is very easy.
No TV or wifi in our room but I understand that you are there to enjoy the nature. No view whatsoever from our room. Some rooms I assume do have views but can’t confirm that. The price of our room I believe was a little high for what you get but I still recommend it as a very good place to stay as a base to explore the Cradle Mountain area.

Cradle Mountain scenery is absolutely stunning. The Pencil Pine room was very warm and comfortable.
We had a great dinner at the Highlander restaurant. The wildlife was lovely as were the beautiful walks around the grounds.
It was a bit tricky getting our luggage up the stairs.

Whilst a higher end price bracket, the hotel was a convenient and comfortable place to stay in Cradle Mpuntain NP.
Its proximity to the main park gate and shuttle stop. Lovely setting complete with wildlife sightings. Rooms were nice and comfortable with a good ambience on the inside (deceptive from the outside). Convenient for meals.

The location was excellent and so was the breakfast. Our room had a great view. The shop was well stocked with novel items.
The bed was EXTREMELY SMALL and this made the night uncomfortable. Restaurant was over-priced I guess being the only place where one could eat dinner unless one drove to other hotels in the vicinity.
Experience luxury in the heart of UNESCO World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.
