I ended up staying during a time where the host family was celebrating a tradition to promote the health of the family and to bless next year's rice harvest. This was the most authentic, special thing I have experienced in Vietnam so far. Never before had they invited foreigners for it. This lifted the stay to new heights.
The place is very very far into the mountains after you're dropped off at nga ba kim market. At the very last second the owner informed me that the motorbike pickup service was unavailable which meant that I had to pay 4x the price for a taxi, who then dropped me off at the wrong place in the dark. I had to search the place for 30 minutes before I found it with my flashlight, since they have no sign that indicates the location of the place anywhere. They should consider improving the directions to the place, in case the motorbike is unavailable again.
Also, if you book the garden view rooms, they get really, really hot during the day. Make sure to book the mountain view place or ask for a fan.

Such a wonderful place to stay if you want to experience village life. Super friendly people. Stunning views! Delicious home cooked meals, also catering for vegetarians. We booked a half day trek through the rice fields, with Yien as our English speaking guide. We would definitely recommend staying here and we hope to come back one day!

This homestay is on an extremely beautiful location off the tourist trail. It is located in the most incredible sculpted rice terraces. The hosts are very warm and hospitable Hmong people. The rooms were beautiful, simple, and had the most amazing views. The food was from the garden and was simple and delicious. This homestay was a highlight of our trip to northern Vietnam.
We loved everything about this homestay.

Poor communication on deadline time for tour’s, money minded and calculative and suspect hygiene ie having runs after eating their meals ie breakfast, lunch and dinner
