excellent breakfast, lovely clean pool and enclosed garden, comfy and quiet bedroom, very generous communal spaces, and high quality finishes. The service was absolutely fantastic and I could not fault the service. Staff were so friendly and helpful, which made it memorable.
The bar was not cosy or intimate and lacked atmosphere, so we did not spend much time there, which was a shame, because everything else was 'spot on' and marvellous.

The great disappointment was that the centre of the hotel, the distinctive cloistered courtyard was not as expected/depicted in the marketing photos. It was screened off like a building site as archaeological works are being carried out (and have been for quite some time). We partly chose the hotel as we liked the architecture and envisaged relaxing in that area.
We spoke to the management as we felt the photos were a significant misrepresentation of what the hotel is currently offering. We felt we should have been advised in advance and given the option of postponing, cancelling or been given a meaningful reduction to the very ‘full’ rate we were paying ( the hotel refunded a small percentage after our stay)
I wonder if booking.com are aware of the significant works being carried out?
We understand it must be difficult for the hotel but more honesty/transparency at the time of accepting our booking would have been appreciated.
