Magical experience. Wonderful staff. Beautiful hotel. We were exceptionally well looked after from start to finish. I cannot rate this hotel highly enough. Thank you to all the staff at Mawamba Lodge. With an extra thank you to Angie - a hard working receptionist AND tour guide!

Amazing location, clean and comfortable room, delicious breakfast, beautiful pool, so many animals in the surrounding jungle, short walk to town, right on the canal and the beach, friendly staff - loved waking up with the howler monkeys and watching them play in the trees! It was all wonderful.
The prices for drinks, snacks, lunch and dinner (not included) at the lodge are insanely high - like way higher than even fine dining back home in Canada. We ended up walking to town and eating at local sodas or buying groceries instead.

Get to see wildlife (Cayman, herons, monkeys, iguana) enroute from Pavona and direct access to the beautiful Caribbean and witness Green Turtles nesting. Experience the laid-back village life at Tortuguero.
Swimming pool was well laid out for private conversation while getting away from the heat. There is even a real life frog life cycle exhibits in the small garden beside the pool.
You wake up at sunrise to the incredible howling of the Howler Monkeys and spot Tiger Heron around the lush property.
Breakfast buffet was also great.
No coffee or fridge in the room.

The property was beautiful and well maintained
I did not like that. There was no clear access to the path into the village, and when asking Staff about how to get there still did not get clear information over all the staff was very unhelpful and had quite an attitude whenever I asked any questions. Upon check in they were very unclear about how to acquire a water taxi and overall just did not provide a warm welcome. I had an issue with electricity in my room and instead of giving me the information I needed was told someone would come and fix it. No one ever came and luckily, I was able to figure out the problem on my own. But had the woman at the desk given me more information I would’ve saved me over an hour of my time at the end of a long day. The wait stuff in the evening for dinner was also very inefficient. I had to ask them multiple times for assistance such as getting a desert menu and for getting the bill.
