We recently stayed at Stay Banaras and came away with a largely pleasant experience. The place has a warm, homely feel, and it's genuinely quiet, which made for restful nights. The food was good, and the staff were helpful and well-behaved throughout our stay.
The location works well too. The area is easy to identify, public transport is available nearby, and most of the major landmarks are within reach.
Even Better If:
- The room access card stayed active through the stay. Having it reset daily meant a trip to the office each time, and a longer validity would make things smoother.
- Room cleaning followed a fixed daily schedule. At present it can happen at any hour, even around 4-5 pm, and we had to request it. A set window would be a real convenience for guests.
- The front office and housekeeping team were better coordinated. Requests passed on at the desk didn't always reach the staff, and closing that loop would make the service feel seamless.
- Drinking water was refilled daily without needing to ask, a small touch that goes a long way.
- The open breakfast area had a smoother walking surface. The pebbles underfoot call for a bit of care, so a more even finish would be welcome.
- The dining and in-room dining experience were more dependable. The in-room phone often went unanswered, and even after following up with the office and being promised a call back, we ended up heading down to place the order in person. Pricing is on the higher side too (a plate of steamed rice was Rs 250), so a bit more value would go a long way. A tip for fellow guests: be very explicit with your instructions. Our request for a no-spice dish still came with green chillies, so a clear confirmation of special requests would help.

The breakfast was good and having many options. It had a reasonable mix of Indian and continental items. The taste was good and service was excellent. The staff was very attentive to our requests. I will like to mention Sachin, Payal and Rohit for the same.
