Don't stay here!! A dirty, very tired apartment managed offsite by an agency 15 minutes walk away!

We're familiar with Alpe d'Huez so knew about the location of the property.

Where to start.... We arrived at Alpe d'Huez early evening and had been advised to collect our keys from a property agency a 15 minute walk away. We managed to do this. On arrival in our apartment it was obvious there was NO bed linen and NO towels. There was even hardly ANY toilet paper!! The twin mattresses were stained and well beyond their best. We spoke to reception in the Les Bergers building on that evening (run by Pierre Vacancies), and were told that our property managed by maeva/Giverdon was absolutely nothing to do with them and they were unable to help us. For our first night in the apartment we had no option but to sleep on bare dirty mattresses with bare uncovered duvets. It was disgusting!! We walked again to the agency the following morning (Day 2) (a 30 minute round trip) to discuss the situation about bed linen and towels and apparently our rental did NOT include either bed linen or towels!!! In over 60 years on this planet, I have never rented either a hotel room or an apartment without either of those basic provisions. I literally could not believe what we were hearing. We paid over 800 euros for 5 nights in this property. We were left with no option but to rent (??? !!!) bed linen from the Pierre Vacancies Les Bergers at a cost of 9 euros per person. The apartment itself was very very dated - the bathroom was literally from either the 70s or the 80s. The shower was an absolute death trap - with a valve on the hot and cold tap, the water was either scorching or freezing. We certainly could not have showered a child in that shower. On the second night the ancient valve on the top of the tap in the shower stopped working and we then had no shower. I called the emergency number provided around 7pm and left a voicemail. No one ever returned my call or message. Day 3 - shower was fixed, and then broke again. I could go on but am running out of text space so will lodge a formal complaint in due course.

Total scam - not an official agent

This is not an actual agent for the property, they are a sort of pound-shop rental agency for some owners with scummy flats. When you get to reception (which is where Booking.com say you pick up the keys, see previous reviews), they tell you it is nothing to do with them and send you to a launderette on the other side of town. We were then put in a completely different accommodation (L’Ours Blanc) which we have stayed in before and hated. To be clear, we’ve stayed in P&V Bergers many times before and we like it, so this isn’t a complaint about the property, it’s a complaint about these scammers who put us somewhere else and have completely ignored all communication since. We stayed a couple of days (of a planned 10 day stay) and left and booked somewhere else. Reception at Bergers said Maeva is a completely different company (which is a lie, it’s still part of the P&V group), it’s a mess. Booking.com customer service have also been useless and I am sending a letter before action tomorrow citing their breach of The Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU (CRD) and the EU Directive 2005/29/EC by providing services with defects. If I don’t hear anything I’ll be launching court proceedings in the relevant jurisdictions, we really can’t let fraudsters get away with this stuff.

Very poor

Staff at the property directed me to another address, some distance away, to collect the keys. There was no one at the key collection address and no phone number to call. Had to wait over an hour (despite arriving when requested by the property owner). Rubbish. There was a foul smell in the corridor outside our property which seeped into our hallway. Most unpleasant.

Disappointing

Upon arrival, I had to walk across the town to find a laundrette to get the keys, but the keys weren’t there. I had to wait ages, after travelling all day, to get into the start that. Awful service.

Appartement is prima als uitvalsbasis, keuken is basic maar voldoet, bedden prima, badkamer goed

Bij aankomst niet gepoetst. Dit is opgelost en excuses zijn aangeboden. GEEN gratis wifi terwijl dit wel op de site van booking.com staat!!!! Appartement dat wij hadden was kleiner dan aangegeven, geen 6 persoon max 4 persoons.
