Darwin City Hotel

Good location

Pool was a bit small and shaded

Basic accommodation. Great Malaysian cafe on ground floor, not part of the hotel, which offered no food or drink.

Needed AC on constantly, as windows are sealed shut.

It is within walking distance of the city centre, near a Woolworth supermarket and a bus stop where many of the city bus lines stop.

Not really a complaint, but the city has made the main entrance difficult for a taxi to access, and taxis and tourist vans prefer the rear of the hotel. Also, waling along the footpath, one does not see a sign saying Darwin City Hotel, and it is easy to walk past.

Had a two-night stay at Darwin city This is a very comfortable hotel and reasonable for the price Located within walking distance for the Mall, Waterfront (0.8km), restaurants and supermarkets. It is a great location. Rooms are clean with all the amenities you need. Beds very comfortable. Rooms are well airconditioned for the Darwin temperatures. Apparently, it has a gym and pool, but I didn't try or see these. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Read below why I gave this a low score!!!!!!

However, the first night of my 2 night stay the people in the next room started playing extremely loud music, singing or yelling couldn't tell the difference and this continued until I had to leave at 6.30am the next morning. Even with ear plugs I woke several times during the night. Not being one to complain (thinking someone else would) I had a terrible night. I mentioned it to the desk clerk in the morning, and he asked why I didn't report it, as they would have don't something about it. Said it just wasn't me but if they were staying, I would request another room. He assured me they were checking out and encouraged me to report it next time… The second night the neighbours on the other side had their TV loud but fortunately turn it off at 10.30. If it had continued, I was ready to report it for sure this time. However, my last morning before checking out they had their music back on and yes was just so loud. So I was either extremely unlucky, and this is not a common thing, but the walls are paper thin. So, I suggest if you are a light sleeper find another hotel. Even though really convenient to everything I would not stay here again.
