Unbelievable Homemade Breakfast: A genuine 10/10. Fresh, fantastic ingredients, beautifully prepared, with incredible attention to detail.
Delightful Host: The owner is genuinely friendly, witty, and exceptionally welcoming.
Spacious Setting: The upstairs area in the main house is generous, with a lovely lounge featuring interesting photos and art, plus picturesque views overlooking the peaceful Swellendam garden.
Prominent Taxidermy / Hunting Decor: Stuffed game mounts are featured in the house, most notably three kudu heads mounted directly over the breakfast area. Having a meal under the gaze of animals shot as hunting trophies was uncomfortable and completely killed the dining vibe. If you travel to appreciate living wildlife rather than hunt it, consider this a fair warning.
Dated Bedroom: The room itself was comfortable enough for an alright night's rest, but the decor and furnishings are noticeably dated.

The hosts are so friendly, welcoming, generous, caring and helpful … they go way beyond that which is expected.
Nothing not to like, it’s a quirky, charming and homey stay, with lots of extras to enhance one’s comfort … but not your state-of-the-art, modern, magazine-worthy kind of opulence!
