This hotel is in a great location - near the train station and within walking distance of most of Nara’s well known attractions. Tastefully decorated, tatami mat floors throughout the hotel from the lobby (you will need to remove your shoes and place them into lockers and take the key while you are inside the hotel). The rooms were very clean and in good condition, the showers were western style which we appreciated. Loved the onsen, and the complementary ice creams afterwards. Breakfast was good, Japanese style but with enough western options to keep us happy (bacon and eggs, granola, fruit and yoghurt etc). Staff were very good. Laundry machines also available, washing was free with a small charge for dryers depending on time. Would stay again!
Parking on site is limited, however there is 24-hour daily parking next door at 770 yen a day (at time of review) more than enough spots. Beds were okay although the pillows were a little soft and the beds were a touch hard. Hated the way the light over the entrance to the room and toilet came on automatically (movement sensor) and there was no obvious way to turn it off.

I was travelling solo and was given a terrible, super cramped room that was very noisy due to trains frequently passing close by. But luckily they had a vacant room and I could change, for an extra fee. I would not have been able to sleep otherwise. This new (double) room was much, much better, very decent for the price, quieter and with much more room for my suitcase etc, and comfy beds. I had a good sleep there. I can not imagine who in the world would be happy with the small, noisy original room, it was terrible. So if booking I would make sure you do not get a room near the train line!
The Onsen ( included in the price) was chlorinated, and clear, so I expect it was just town water, perhaps with some minerals added. It was not a hot spring. Nice, but disappointing after so many lovely Onsen experiences in Japan. The hotel itself was large, lots of staff and guests. I should have researched more and found something to suit my tastes.
