I arrived at Sonbern Lodge as sunset approached after a 800km from Hay NSW via Adelaide. The owner had arranged for my room key to be available, the air con was on and I was given a comfy, quite and super nice room ( at a good price) The town itself has some great history and good facilites. All in all a great stopover - and worth another visit when I have more time!!!

Lovely balcony. Great location , quaint and comfortable

Nothing. All good

7 / 10Good·Oct 2026

Clean, comfortable and friendly helpful staff

Only 1 tiny packet of milk, barely enough for 2 coffees. Most places are like this though. Bathroom very small, was ok for me but may be difficult for a very large person.

6 / 10Average·Oct 2025

Very helpful and kind staff. Comfy bed. Convenient off-street parking. The extra towels were appreciated.

We had to ask for coat hangers as there were none. It was difficult to self cater: we had to ask for detergent to wash our dishes, and there were no microwave dishes to use for heating food in the microwave. We also had to carry the ironing board to the laundry to use the iron. The lighting in the room was quite poor, so reading at night was difficult.
