A wonderful, peaceful oasis that provided us with the ultimate relaxation and unforgettable memories in Kenya.
Everything was perfect! We especially loved the spaciousness of the property, the great terrace, and the clean pool. The place offers complete peace, quiet, and privacy, making it an ideal spot to relax. The service was top-notch and made us feel truly cared for.
Nothing at all, everything was great!

Great choice
If you want a generic, sterile place where you don't know if you are in Africa or somewhere in Europe, then Marula Park is not for you. If you want accommodation with the soul and character of the African coast of the Indian Ocean, then this is the right choice for you. The facility is very well secured, isolated from the rest of the settlement, so you have a piece of paradise to yourself (the piece of paradise you get comes with monkeys, birds, bugs and other living creatures, which is actually part of the experience). Each bedroom has AC and mosquito nets for the beds. The sea water pool is big enough and very clean. In addition to the main one, there is also a children's pool. The staff is friendly and ready to help. The cook, Celestine, is highly recommended and is a real magician in the kitchen (the white snapper she prepares is delicious).
The property is a five-minute easy walk to the beach, where you will be greeted by too many pushy local sellers, massage therapists and captains of various vessels who want to sell you their services and products, so you have no privacy. Of course, this is not a characteristic of Marula Park only, but a general characteristic of that part of the coast.

Horrible
Nada
Our experience at Marula Park was extremely negative and, above all, we did not feel safe staying here as a family.
During our stay, approximately €650 in cash disappeared from inside the house. We are convinced that the money disappeared while we were at the accommodation, at a time when staff had access to the property. Staff regularly entered and left the house throughout the day, sometimes without prior notice and even while we were inside. After the incident, the property refused to accept any responsibility or offer any meaningful solution or compensation, and we felt completely abandoned.
The accommodation itself is also much more neglected than the photos suggest. It was not particularly clean, and several mosquito nets had holes in them.
Communication was another major problem. After around 5:00 pm there was effectively nobody available to help us, and even during the day the contact person we had been given repeatedly failed to answer our messages.
The location is also misleading. The property is not on the beach. It is around a 10-minute walk away, along a route that we found dirty, uncomfortable and unsafe, particularly when travelling with children. During the walk we were also repeatedly approached by people trying to sell us things.
We have travelled for more than 20 years, stayed in many accommodations through Booking.com and spent almost a month travelling around Kenya without experiencing anything like this.
What happened here completely ruined our sense of security. Even worse was the way the property handled the situation afterwards: instead of supporting us and trying to find a solution, they simply denied responsibility.
Based on our personal experience, we strongly advise families and other travellers to think very carefully before booking this accommodation.

Wonderful place to stay
The hotel is located in a very green, private, and well-maintained area, surrounded by many trees and bushes, which creates a peaceful atmosphere. The staff are friendly, and the swimming pool is clean. The air conditioning works well, and there is also an additional fan in the living room, which was very helpful.
The beach is very close and was completely empty during our stay (we visited in mid-December), which was amazing. Large grocery stores are just a couple of minutes away by tuk-tuk, which are easy to catch on the road.
A unique and unforgettable experience: across the road, at a nearby bar, you can feed wild bushbabies that come every evening. It is truly something special — highly recommended.
In one of the rooms, there were termites that disturbed our sleep at night. We eventually managed to find them all and remove them from the house.
The cook tends to prepare food that is very salty. We asked several times for less salt, but unfortunately it did not improve. However, the samosas were very tasty.
A monkey sometimes comes onto the property, so it is important to keep the doors closed. Other than that, it did not bother us.
At the beach exit, there are beach boys and local vendors who can be quite persistent and hard to avoid. It is better not to engage with them at all, as their constant offers to sell something or take boat trips significantly affected our experience.
That said, I would like to recommend Moana, a woman who sells scarves there. I ordered a dress from her using a fabric I liked, and it turned out beautifully.
Overall, the hotel is great, and despite some inconveniences, I would still recommend staying here.
