9 / 10Outstanding·Oct 2026
Great welcome by Matt and staff, made us feel at home from day 1. Grounds and facilities were extremely scenic and well kept. Breakfast had a wide choice and was plentiful, the pier out to the restaurant was a wonderful addition and a beautiful walk in the evenings and we liked the swimming/watersports deck at the back of the restaurant. All in all a fantastic place, would definitely go back.
Pricey for the meals and drinks. I didn't expect to be paying UK prices in Zanzibar for food and drink. We went to an awesome local restaurant up the road and it was a fraction of the price for better quality food.

The staff were brilliant. Couldn’t do enough for you
It was a bit remote but that’s not their fault
7 / 10Good·Oct 2026
The property itself is gorgeous and the rooms are great.
Despite being beachfront you have no access to the beach due to the tides. Pongwe is very remote and there is literally nothing around for 30 minutes in any direction. The food at the resort was not very good and they charged extortionate prices for it, probably because you have no option to eat outside of the resort.

I truly enjoyed the resort and the ambiance it brought with it. It was peaceful, clean and all the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly.
Food portion was small for supper
