The staff were absolutely amazing and could not do more for us.
The food was excellent, and the location of the eco huts was perfect.
The sea was amazing and the facilities
The road to the venue was rustic to say the least. It was full of potholes which meant that vehicles took much longer to get up and down than we would have liked or expected - this is a local government issue not the hotel's. Also the power kept going out in the evening. Again this is outside of the hotel's control. They could add another generator so that the eco huts also had more power during outages

The overall vibe of peacefulness, laidbackness and lack of pretension - places like this are rare these days

This really is a beautiful location. A peaceful and relaxing escape with friendly staff that are happy to go the extra mile to make your stay even better. A Family run business with Mr Haji and his son's, arranged some amazing tours and trips to Stone Town and the Spice Farm with a tour guide, taxi, entry paid and all topped off with a cooking lesson at the end of the day. Mangrove Lodge also works with the local village for employment making this a truly sustainable and fulfilling experience for everyone. 10/10 and a heart felt Well Done from us.
We soon saw past the bumpy access road. Mangrove Lodge was at the end and local Taxi Drivers do it all the time.

All the foliage...
WI-FI was very poor, there was so much trash on the beach, my bed was too short--I'm 6"2'--had to sleep diagonally...Electricity went out twice over the two-day period I was there...The road leading to the lodge was very hard to navigate because of pot holes and mud...
