Unfortunately Disappointing

The itself is property is lovely and a great place for a large family getaway.

unfortunately for 2 out of our 3 night stay (jan 19th-22nd) we had no heating upstairs in the property. We had to constantly contact the housekeeper, who tried her best to help but we spent 2 nights sleeping in socks, dressing gowns & with extra blankets on top of the duvets as it was unbearably cold. I had to constantly hold my 8 month old because every time we put her down she got very cold, her hands were constantly freezing so I had to use my body heat to keep her warm. We were not told before booking that we would have to pay for the gas after the £30 that was on the meter had run out & we spent another £75 on heating the house even though the heating was broken. After our stay I spoke to booking.com about the heating situation & they contacted cottages.com who run the booking of the property, they then contacted the owner of the property to discuss the issue we had during our stay and without a second thought he told them the heating was fixed in a timely manner and he would not be offering us any of the money we had spent of the gas meter back. Cottages.com called me to inform me of this and decided since it was incredibly cold conditions and we were left without heating for 2 nights that they would refund us the £75 as they agreed it wasn’t right that we had to pay for something we weren’t actually getting. After we had booked the property I received a message from the owner to tell me that I needed to pay a security deposit of £150, this again was not advertised before booking the property so came as a surprise. We also found a lot of areas in the property were full of cobwebs & dust, mostly the high hard to reach places but also other areas. For example the cooker hood, it had thick grease on it & had thick dust on the outside (of course not great since that’s where you cook your food).

Brilliant place in a fantastic location. Only let down slightly by water problems.

This place has plenty of space.

House has everything needed and hosts were lovely, very spacious for the whole family and more than enough room for 10 people. Waterfall walks not far away.

Parking was a bit of a nightmare for us, but apparently hasn't been previously, so may just be us having bad luck. We could park but at quite a distance in front of terraced houses which upset locals.
