Beds were comfortable, separate twin beds, room big enough for 2 people, clean and well staffed. Breakfast was fine with plenty of variety, but busy. Multiple onsen pools in public baths . Great location for walking around the town and access to the trails/attractions.
Onsen's were large and very busy. Hotel was dated but still functional and clean

Well known Japanese hotel having variety of public bath hot springs. The lobby, concourse and all floors had beautiful & elaborate Japanese decor & artifacts. Japanese buffet was elaborate. Japanese style rooms with tatami mats.
Rooms were average & had minimum amenities.
Staff spoke little English as it caters to Japanese people. Western buffet was very limited.

Very fancy hotel in beautiful setting. The best hotel food we had in Japan, lots of gourmet specialties. A bit crowded in the dining room.
Onsen does not allow tattoos, even covered up! I'm a senior with a tiny tattoo and I didn't realize this ban until I got to Japan. I'm obviously not in a gang. Very disappointing, as the main reason I came to Japan was for the waters to heal my arthritis. The hotel should allow small tattoos covered up.

Nice onsen area, I prefer the breakfast to dinner buffet. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was very very very small. Our family of five was given one Japanese style room but there was barely any space left after the futons were laid out. The bathroom was a squeeze too and we had no place to hang our towels. Buffet dinner had variety but the taste was so so. No drinks included except ice water.
