It is a small town along the Kumano Kodo so having the ability to stay at a resort that covers breakfast and dinner was exactly what my traveling group needed. Due to the limited options in the town, it does increase demand and prices. It is what it is. The front desk spoke English and everything matched the pictures and website for expected services. They provided scheduled times for meals and had all necessary amenities available for the baths and utilizing the river across the street that has an active hot spring under it. Quite unique. The bus stop is right outside the hotel entrance and they also offer a daily 9am shuttle to the shrine downtown for viewing. Overall exactly what I thought we were getting when I signed up. They accept international credit cards without issue and most of the busses in the town do as well. IC cards worked on all of them but do have cash as a backup (just in case).
Due to the limited options in the town, it does increase demand and prices. It is what it is. The futons in my Japanese styled room were thin and we basically slept on the floor. I had to utilize various pillows around the room to make it bearable. On the second night I was able to get an additional futon for each of us in the room to at least make it marginally better. I had better beds at all other places I stayed throughout the journey. It is an easy upgrade the facility should make. It is also a bit of an aged facility, but clean enough and worked for what we needed.

Beautiful location, ideal for doing some hiking and right in front of the river. Staff were lovely and the food was simply outstanding. Every meal was a work of art

It was a charming onsen hotel right opposite the river and staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful onsen baths too.
There was no coffee in the room and only available at the tea house where you had to pay. All previous hotels in Japan have offered complementary coffee.

Food was plentiful, would have been nice to have a coffee in the morning, but when we requested, they said not available. Hotel was clean, and very well located, but very old, needs upgrading.
