The Elephant at the Market

I had one night at The Elephant at the Market as I was travelling through Newbury on route down south. I did miss the carpark on my first attempt, my fault, I didn't see the barrier. I received a lovely, friendly welcome. My room was Alexander which was clean with comfortable bed and pillows. The kettle, coffee and tea bags, biscuits a very nice touch. The shower was powerful and kept at the chosen temperature. I had a peaceful nights sleep. I didn't notice any noise from the outside or from the pub, hallway or other rooms. Really enjoyed the food from the restaurant - cleared my plates. And the team of people who work here are so helpful and friendly. As a female, lone traveller, I felt very comfortable here. Yummy breakfast too. This stay was value for money. In a fabulous environment. And great location. I will definitely stay here again.

Nothing not to like. They have it right here.

Perfect location with a carpark. Good facilities. The staff couldn't have done more.

Nothing but if I wanted to be picky a lick of paint!

Great location , clean room and friendly helpful staff

Quirky & good parking & access to pub. Friendly enough staff.

Tight access to rooms. Bathroom heating was on constantly, so sweating even with fan on. (and needs dusting on softwood wall shelf with spare toilet roll). Breakfast, we needed to pay extra for soft drink. Tea came out with off milk, so needed replacing after constant reminders. No discount offered for inconvenience.
