Everything. We loved everything. The food was incredible , made with love and care and served jsut the same. I left each morning for the day feeling nourished and happy. The Onsen was so beautiful, well kept and extremely comfortable. It was my very first Onsen experience and I can’t imagine it having been better. The rooms were lovely and there were many washrooms available so you were never waiting to use one. Also! It’s so close to the start of the snow monkey park hike, incredible location.
To be honest, we were slightly worried about the turtles. We hope that they have a large home where they swim around, and that they were only by the door temporarily. It would be sad if that was their life all the time. I trust that’s not the case .

The old couple I believe who ran this place were extremely friendly and made us feel so welcome here. During April, the onsen was empty (only 150yen additional to use it) and the futon beds were surprisingly extremely comfortable. The view from the room was nice, the room really has an authentic Japanese feel to it. The breakfast was delicious!!
Everything was great but make sure to plan your route here well, some trains and buses can be infrequent

Close to the monkey park, within a reasonable walking distance. Quiet location, wonderful staff and experience.
