The owner is a wonderful little lady who was very welcoming and accommodating. They picked us up from the station and even drove us to the snow monkeys the next day.
She prepared an incredible meal and even took our photos.
There wasn’t much we didn’t like. It was authentic, charming and had everything we needed.

The hospitality provided by Kobayashi and Taka was nothing short of extraordinary. Our Japanese is very bad but they were very kind and patient with us. The food was beyond delicious and they were accommodating for our vegetarian diet, and the baths were luxurious and relaxing. They picked us up from the train station and even offered to drive us to the snow monkeys which was an unexpected touch. You will miss out if you do not stay at Yudanaka Yasuragi.
The baths are significantly hotter than other onsen- I loved it but my partner couldn't bear it. If you are sensitive to heat I recommend planning to visit the other lovely baths in town.

Unfriendly greeting by male host, cane across quite aggressive with how suitcases should be stored.
Poor value evening meal 2-3 times what we paid in high quality local restaurants. Breakfast price not included.
Tatami not igusa in room.
Ryokan feels like converted house not very traditional
