The Shadow Art Hotel was the perfect first stop on our journey through China. From the very first moment, we felt warmly welcomed. A very special thank you goes to Amy: she was exceptionally kind, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. She had an answer to every question, gave us valuable tips and took care of every request with genuine joy and great patience. Service this attentive is rare. The whole team was courteous, the hotel stylish and well kept, and we felt truly well looked after.
The beds were a little firm for our taste. When we mentioned it, we were immediately offered mattress toppers, which completely solved the issue for us. This uncomplicated, caring response impressed us even more.
We would happily come back anytime and warmly recommend this hotel!

Elsa and the team were very wonderful and helpful with everything from setting up breakfast to bringing luggage inside/outside and showing us all the details about the room. The tea station in the corner was also very pleasant to come back to in the chilly fall Beijing weather. Being able to set a time for breakfast to be ready also helped us keep to our busy schedule in Beijing and have breakfast at an earlier hour than when food places opened, which was very nice.

The hotel common areas and dining room were beautifully decorated and appointed, tasteful with beautiful art. Good location close to beautiful lake and park. Staff were friendly and helpful although a bit too solicitous at times. Sad to miss the shadow puppet show!
The room itself was the smallest room we've ever stayed, we could not even walk around the mattress. There was no actual bed, only a mattress on a platform. Barely room to open your suitcase. Room needs a good though cleaning and coat of white paint. Shower door leaked water onto the floor.
