Portobello By The Sea

Lovely roomy one bedroom apartment overlooking the landscaped pool. Across the road from the beach and adjacent to a row of shops offering everything you might need. Great to have an actual dining table separate from the lounge and a large kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good.

The apartment was pretty 'tired' and needed some TLC. The toilet bowl was very stained and there was some rust and mold round the kitchen and bathroom window frames. Not sure if it was the tiles on the kitchen floor or on the walkway outside the apartment but the soles of my feet were filthy after only a few minutes walking round. The lighting was very poor - except in the kitchen - virtually impossible to read at night. The lock on the door from the bedroom to the balcony was broken so we couldn't lock it. We were disappointed with the negative messages around the apartment - any extra service would cost an arm and a leg - "don't leave anything behind because we'll charge you $20 on top of the courier cost to send it on". We had booked the apartment for a week but were only supplied with a couple of teabags, one roll of toilet paper, a couple of small bars of soap, one sachet for the dishwasher etc - we could have got more from reception but everything was charged by the unit e.g $2 for a toilet roll.

It was just a really nice place to stay and relax

Fantastic location, right next to beach and shops. The apartment was spacious and very clean. We loved the top floor and didn’t mind the stairs at all, well worth being up on third floor. The pool was perfect. The security of the complex is also great and car parking was easy. The coffee shop, The Flags was exceptional. And the local butcher is a five stars also

We had to clean the BBQ at the pool as they were both quite dirty before we used it. Unfortunately, we had to use the dish cloth and abrasive cloth from our room to clean it. Maybe there could be supplies at the BBQ for people to clean after use.

Location to beach.

The whole resort including our room was very old and tired. Lighting in the apartment needed updating. It was very dark especially with the overgrown gardens surrounding the balcony.
