Hainburg on the Danube has a pretty centre and is so close to the Roman sites at Carnuntum. The refurbishment / conversion of this former monastery has been carried out very tastefully. The wide range of foods at breakfast was an added bonus.
We needed to know to turn before the medieval gate to the town, rather than go through and end up at the rear of the hotel (where all the parking is taken by Post Office vans). But it only took a few minutes to find the square with free parking outside the hotel's main entrance.

A lovely place to stay after a day cycling along the Danube. Secure storage for our bikes. Lovely dinner.

we needed to sleep over night only-we could `n t go for breakfast, as we needed to leave very early in the morning.
The shower room had no doors, so when we shower our kids needed to wait for us outside in the corridor.
