The layout and position. The sheets and towels were new and clean.
It was not clean. The table still had crumbs on it from previous people. The floor also had crumbs and obviously had not been swept or vacuumed and bits stick to your feet before getting into bed. The cornices had spider webs and spiders . The upstairs couch was dirty and the cover had not been straightened from previous use. The balcony was dusty and dirty and as we paid to stay there we would have preferred it was clean. We washed all the dishes before use as we did not trust the cleanliness.

Our room looked straight out onto the Marina and across to beautiful North Beach. We were greeted upon arrival by two dolphins who swam by as we stood on the balcony.
The windows from our living room that provided the view to the marina and North Beach were very dirty. Whoever had cleaned them before did not use a proper window cleaner and just a cloth that completely smeared the grime across the window, obstructing our view. To the hotel's credit, when I reported this, they had another cleaner come up and clean the window perfectly.
