If you appreciate old-world charm and unique architecture, Hotel Penaga in George Town, Penang, is an absolute gem. From the moment you step through the doors, you are completely transported by its incredible, nostalgic ambience. The hotel beautifully balances heritage preservation with boutique comfort, making it feel less like a standard hotel stay and more like an immersive cultural experience.
The standout feature is undoubtedly the collection of vintage furniture, classic art, and antique fixtures throughout the property. Every corner tells a story, and the reconstruction of these historical shophouses has been done with immense care and respect for Penang's heritage. Staying here isn't just about having a room to sleep in; it’s an entire vintage experience of staying in a shophouse—from the beautiful wooden floors and retro tilework to the peaceful courtyard spaces that make you forget you are right in the heart of the city. Absolutely adore the balcony overlooking the courtyard at the back of the house.
For travelers who love character, history, and a soul-stirring atmosphere over generic modern luxury, Hotel Penaga is a must-visit. I absolutely loved the vibe and cannot wait to return!

The classic architecture and antique furniture. We were a family of 4 and stayed at the 4 bedroom terrace homes and they were lovely.The location was excellent if you want to explore Georgetown
There was some remaining polythene left by a previous customer which was not cleared. As there were mosquitoes and the room mosquito repellent was over we asked for a fresh one but they didn’t have any

The outlook historical architecture of the hotel, it's good for photo taking.
We've stayed for 3nights, the drainage of washbasin in toilet is noisy everytime you use. Housekeeper doesn't refill bath towel and toilet paper when only 1roll of toilet paper left. TV channel is limited to local language and the control is complicated to operate. My friend told me their room didn't clean because they forgot to put "make up the room" signage however they notice the aircon and TV was closed n hanging fan has turned on while the rest no change, coffee cup not clean, no refill bath towel & toilet paper when they've returned to their room. Calling housekeeper late night around 10pm after return from dinner outside for a new towel feeling kind of disturbing to them when this is a 4star hotel, isnt it the standard service is 24hours room service. We have report this to frontdesk on the second day, the following 2nd & 3rd night has no more issue. Aside from this, hotel location is perfect close to shopping and food street.
