The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent, with a variety of options. The location was another highlight, right by the river and surrounded by a beautiful, spacious park, perfect for a relaxing walk. I really enjoyed my stay.
The carpet in the bedroom may contribute to better thermal and acoustic insulation. However, given that the en-suite bathroom has no window, I have some reservations about the suitability of wall-to-wall carpeting from a hygiene perspective.
I experienced a slight increase in my allergy symptoms during my stay. On the positive side, the bedroom has a large window, and keeping it open helped alleviate the discomfort considerably.
Despite this minor concern, I had an overall positive experience and would consider staying at this property again.

Breakfast was average, but I was also 2 hours later after the breakfast started to be served and there were not much left.
Room was clean and comfortable
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with any question
The reception just made a slight mistake, when they let in the male person to the room, while the room was only female listed. So I immediately told to the guest and reception solved the problem.

I found the dorms to be good and matched expectations. Breakfast was also good. Overall, it was comfortable and a good place to sleep for the night. The location is okay, but if you plan to spend most of your time in the city centre (Koeln Hbf/Cathedral) than it is farther away. But it is near the train station so it is still convenient to travel, you might just need to plan ahead for train routes.
Unfortunately, my floor was flooded with teens and children who were very loud and harrassing me as I was going to my room (which isn't fun when you're a solo female traveller lol). The noise continued into the night (past 11 PM) which made it difficult to sleep. Other hostels I've stayed in usually have quiet hours in place or some sort of regulation to allow for socializing while still keeping it respectful for other guests but that didn't seem to be the case here.
