The Orwell Hotel

Breakfast was included in price and was lovely room was fine nice bathroom staff were all lovely

the weather

Fantastic stay at this beautiful hotel which is being revamped currently. Entrance, reception, library, bar, restaurant all beautiful and cosy. Staff were exceptional and attentive, especially in the restaurant, cleaners were very jolly too. The food was delicious and we ate there 4 nights out of 5 because it was so good. Our room was slightly dated but very comfy, clean beds. No complaints! Even had a bath which was a luxury and old fashioned double sink 🤗. Definitely going back at such a bargain price. Nothing!

Have stayed before and suits us for visiting the beach and the Theatre.

Room temperature wasn’t really warm enough as chilly in the Evening as no central heating on, we used the heater provided but not ideal. The tv wasn’t really big enough for the size of the room.

The location & parking

The room had two badly cracked windows . The sash windows were both broken, solidly jammed & unable to be open or closed at will . The hot tap knob was unattached & came away in your hand when using the shower .There was no grab handle in the shower & made it extremely dangerous whenever getting in or out of the shower . The shower head was unadjustable & shot out at all angles rather than over your body . The hot tap in the sink was fitted so that you had to turn it clockwise to turn it on , which is against the norm . The door to the room internally was covered in old stickers & bits of old tape . When I told the concierge about the dangerous windows he came & confirmed they were & said they would be fixed . One was laughably repaired but the other not at all .
