Hotel Hidalgo

The hotel is in a great location between Toledo and Madrid well situated to explore this areas, both cities easy to reach by car. rooms were spacious and clean. Staff at the reception desk and in restaurant were mostly friendly and helpful.

The hotel staff in the breakfast room was quite rude, unacceptable for a four star hotel. Here is what happened: We were two families staying at the hotel for several days. One day we had a quick breakfast at the buffet and then left the breakfast room for a few minutes to say goodbye to the other family, which had to go to the airport a day earlier. Since, on that day, we had a short time at the breakfast, two of us returned back to the breakfast room at about 9am to drink two (!) cups of tea. It was then that, we were told by the female hotel staff, that returning to breakfast was not possible. Unfortunately in an unfriendly and unprofessional manner, she was telling us that it is against the rules to leave the breakfast room and to return back to continue breakfast. We would have to go upstairs to the restaurant and purchase the tea! So, I wonder, how is that rule possible? For example, if while eating breakfast I had to go to the washroom suddenly, or get a sweater from the hotel room, or as in our case wanted to say farewell to friends or family, thus leave the breakfast area but then return to continue breakfast? Please, Hotel Hidalgo, if this is indeed your rule or that is indeed your policy, then let the hotel guest know about it in a friendly manner, write it in friendly words on the wall, in Spanish and English language would be best to avoid issues. However, I have never experienced this kind of rule in a four star hotel anywhere else in the world. If there is imdeed NO such rule in your hotel, which would prohibit guests to exit and return to the breakfast room, then please teach your staff to act and communicate friendly and respectfully with hotel guests. That means they lack proper training.

The beds were very comfortable. The room very spacious. It was quiet and we had a great nights sleep. Plenty of wardrobe room for hanging clothes. The breakfast was very good and great value for money.

We found a chipped plate & my glass for orange juice also had a slight chip on rim. We had to change my plate and glass.

Convenient for travel to Southern Spain. Very comfortable bed and room. Great bar food, lots of choice and frequented by many locals… great! Good garage parking.

Good location easy to get to on the outskirts of the town,free car parking,nice room and bathroom,good shower,excellent selection on the breakfast buffet.

Taking into consideration it’s a 4* hotel the two things that stood out were the lack of soundproofing in rooms and although the staff were pleasant and friendly there was a lack of professionalism noticed mainly during our evening meal (we ordered two starters and 2 main courses which was all brung out to the table at the same time),also it would have been nicer to eat in an restaurant area as apposed to dinning in the cafeteria which appears to be a local watering hole for the locals!
