Unfortunately, my experience with the reception staff at Grand Hyatt Istanbul was extremely disappointing and far below the standards expected from a prestigious five-star hotel.
Most of the reception staff I encountered displayed a rude, unwelcoming, and highly unprofessional attitude. Their lack of courtesy, respect, and proper communication was particularly disappointing for a hotel of this reputation and price category.
I would particularly like to mention a staff member whose name I believe was Berktuğ, although I am not entirely certain of the spelling or his exact name. My interaction with him was especially unpleasant. I found his attitude rude, disrespectful, and completely lacking in the professionalism expected from someone working in luxury hospitality.
Unfortunately, this did not feel like an isolated incident, as I experienced similar behavior from several other reception employees. The front desk should be the heart of a hotel’s hospitality, where guests feel welcomed, respected, and valued, rather than uncomfortable or disappointed.
However, I must make a very important exception for Mr. BÜLENT KARAAĞAÇ (Karşılama Görevlisi). He was absolutely extraordinary. His professionalism, kindness, exceptional manners, and genuine respect for guests were truly impressive. He is a remarkable gentleman who represents everything that luxury hospitality should stand for. His conduct was in complete contrast to my experience with the reception team.
I sincerely hope the hotel management takes this feedback seriously, addresses the reception team’s attitude and lack of professionalism, and gives Mr. Bülent Karaağaç the recognition he genuinely deserves.
A five-star hotel should not only be judged by its beautiful building and facilities, but also by the way its employees treat their guests. Unfortunately, the reception team fell considerably short of those expectations.
A beautiful five-star property seriously let down by the rude and unprofessional behavior of much of its reception team, particularly an employee I believe was named Berktuğ. Thankfully, Mr. BÜLENT KARAAĞAÇ stood out as an exceptional gentleman whose professionalism, respect, and extraordinary hospitality deserve the highest recognition.
