Perfect room and very friendly staff. Views across to a castle in the distance. Happy hour with complimentary cheese & crackers, and 2 for 1 drinks in the bar.
Breakfast was excellent.
The hill to get there! Not the hotel's fault, but guests were large luggage need to know that it's an arduous journey (but worth it!)

Everything about the place was very good. Couldn't ask more from the staff before and during my stay.
The breakfast choices were excellent and flexible with room for miner improvements.
The room was cozy, and had a great shower facility, again potential for miner improvements.
As for the location, excellent, great views and central to the high street facilities.
These are not things I disliked, more things that I believe would enhance the experience.
The breakfast was full of choice, and I chose both mushrooms and black pudding with my English Breakfast, unfortunately the mushrooms were extremely small resulting in no taste, and the black pudding very thinly sliced and cooked through to a crisp.
My room was cozy and comfortable, however I had a double bed that was basically two singles pushed together under one mattress, this made sleeping uncomfortable in the middle of the bed.
I would of like a better clothes hanging facility rather than simply wooden pegs from a wall.

Staff were very pleasant and efficient
Hotel is very expensive for what it is very cold drafts room, dates decor and poor bar, limited drinks. Doesn’t play on the smugglers history that it could. It just feels unloved and needs some attention.
