"Passable" reduced to "Poor" due to neglected dog and dog faeces around the barbecue area
The property itself is very clean but this was offset because of the mounds of dog poo one had to negotiate to get to the garden loggia and barbecue which made them unusable.
The view to the front was beautiful, but difficult to enjoy as the windows are small and high up and the "balcony" - the landing at top of access steps -overlooks the host's house and the upsettingly neglected caged dog, not the view.
The worst thing was the upsetting sight of the beautiful dog caged up all day with not enough space to walk, let alone run around. We saw her let out for just a few minutes each day in order to have her poo. There were deposits of poo all over the grass - white because left so long including close to the barbecue, the loggia and the children's play equipment. One sickening visit to the back garden was more than enough.
Internet was poor and did not work at all until we complained when a jury-rigged modem was put out on the host's balcony. Why not have a booster in the home? I see previous guests have complained about the wifi.
Towels were the smallest and worst I have come across in many years of travel all over the world. Following a request the additional towels were very slightly bigger. Still inadequate.
Hot water for kitchen sink barely warm and no plug.
No rack or shelf in showers for shampoo etc.
No broom - just a dustpan and hand-brush for the extensive flooring.
No welcome pack of any sort; not even salt and pepper supplied (again raised by a previous guest).
No wine glasses.
Only one (small) cereal bowl.
Only two unmatched mugs
Did not like automatic air freshener introducing unnecessary chemicals into the air - because of its location did not even realise it was doing this for two days.
Backless stools only for sitting at the table.
Only one, rather uncomfortable place to sit in the evening - on the sofa bed.
Three small poor TVs - no decent sized one anywhere (again raised by someone else)
It is a complete mystery to me why others have given such high scores. How can anyone seriously think this place was "exceptional" - except in a bad way?
