Soller Plaza

Nice hotel right near the centre. The staff were great here and despite an issue with being given one of the mobility accessed rooms to start with, which we hadn't realised we would be getting. We asked to move as it was dark and had no natural light. They kindly sorted us out an alternative room with no fuss which was much better for us. Welcome drink was also a nice touch and they helped us with details for local things to see and do.

Perfectly located right next to the main square, everywhere was a quick walk away. The receptionist Raquel was wonderful and answered all our questions, gave us great restaurant recommendations and booked our taxi to the airport. We also got beach towels from reception which was really helpful for our soller port day.

Not on the hotel: The only downside is that the church bell tolls every 15 mins, all night and all day, so if you’re a light sleeper bring some earplugs!

Unfortunately, our stay was characterized by a remarkable number of misunderstandings… 1. The room At the time of booking, we kindly requested a room on the second floor. Once we arrived, we were told that this was simply not possible. What was particularly disappointing was that nobody had informed us beforehand. 2. The “patio” that wasn’t there Both the room description and the list of room facilities clearly stated that the room included a “patio” (see screenshot). When we pointed this out, the staff simply refused to acknowledge it, despite us showing them the information. There was even a photo showing what appeared to be balcony doors, but in reality there was neither a patio nor a balcony. 3. Breakfast that wasn’t there… It was on our second day that we were informed that we could receive a voucher for a breakfast at a nearby restaurant. No compensation was offered for the breakfast we had already paid for. 4. One evening, we returned to the hotel at around 9:30 pm, only to find the entrance gate locked. Our room key card apparently only worked together with an access code. This was never explained to us at check-in. After contacting the hotel via WhatsApp, we eventually received the code. The hotel have no reception during the evening / night. 5. We also asked for permission to drive into the restricted zone in order to collect our luggage. The staff insisted that we must provide a copy of our rental car agreement, despite previously message that the car registration number would be sufficient (see screenshot). Unfortunately, we did not have access to the rental agreement. This raises a rather obvious question: what happens if a guest owns their car? Would they simply be unable to obtain permission? What was most disappointing was not necessarily the individual mistakes, but the lack of willingness to take responsibility.
