We liked the experience of an historical building and we wanted to be right in old town Portland. The price was right where it needs to be for what you receive in accommodations. Rooms and bath were very clean and well maintained.
Well, the homeless situation is sad.
Also not having a bath in the room is era correct and part of the experience but requires the acceptance of the inconvenience.

Loved the staff, facility and everything about the Hotel. Location is near Portland Amtrak and traveled by train for a short stop on the way to seattle.
The Old Town area surrounding Portland Union Station is a bad neighborhood. If you take cab, uber or drive you are fine as the Hotel is safe and secure. I'm a walker having taken the train west and to walk everywhere is a challenge. There is security on the streets but not enough..

Good stay for the price! We were worried about the shared bathroom, but didn't find it very inconvenient, it's worth it for a one night stay
The rooms have very thin walls so you can hear people on the hallway and in other rooms, but overall it wasn't terrible

Hotel felt safe as key fobs were required for entry and elevator. Staff was very friendly. The hotel was clean and rooftop was a great added bonus.
The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The parking was a block and a half away so planning was required to access your vehicle.
