Elkhorn Cottage: Charming Home, Beautiful Views, Close to town and RMNP, Wi-Fi

This unique property can be rented as 2B/2B or 3B/3B. There is a separate (detached) guest suite (Moose Room) that has a nice bedroom, bathroom and small deck. Please see picture of house plans for layout. The property can accommodate 2-6 guests. The base rate is based on 2 person occupancy and each additional guest is $25 per person per night. **The guest suite (Moose Room) is never rented separately from the main house. The garage is not included in the rental. Please make sure you enter the exact number of guests when booking so that you get an accurate quote. Children of any age under 18 should be listed under "children". If some extra guests are just partial stays then send me a message and we can work that out. The rental agreement that you return to me will need to have all guests listed.

This charming mountain cottage sits on 1.8 acres with amazing views of Longs Peak, Twin Sisters, Old Man Mountain and Fall River. The original founders of the Elkhorn Lodge built the home in 1934, hence the name Elkhorn Cottage. While there have been many updates, this home boasts of originals giving it the perfect cozy mountain feel. The cottage has hardwood floors, large stone gas fireplace and a fully stocked “retro” style kitchen. The bedrooms are large and the ceilings are tall. The main cottage is 2B/2B and there is a separate guest suite that is 1B/1B (Moose Room). A large deck sits across the entire back of the home that is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the views. It’s about a half-mile walk to the downtown strip via a sidewalk at the end of the street and a short 3.8-mile drive to the less crowded Fall River RMNP entrance.

The master bedroom has a King size bed and French doors that open up to the large deck. The other bedroom in the main house has a queen size bed with 2 large windows. The bedroom in the guest suite (Moose Room) has a queen size bed, a full bathroom with a tub/shower, and a small private deck. The guest suite has a mini fridge and coffee maker. All bedrooms have walk in closets and TV/DVD players (In 2027 there will not be cable TV in the house. Each room will have a smart TV and you can log in to your own subscriptions). The Moose Room will NOT be rented to another party separately from the main house.

There is a Samsung 50” class 8 series LED 4K UHD smart TV in the family room (inside the armoire) so that guests can use their own subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu etc. For the 2026 season, the house has BASIC cable TV and it has great WiFi. Note: In 2027 and beyond, there will be no cable TV. Each room will have a smart TV so that you can use your own TV subscriptions.

Elkhorn Cottage is close to many popular wedding venues including The Stanley Hotel, SkyView at Fall River Village and Black Canyon Inn.

A note about trip insurance...2020 was an exceptionally difficult year for our vacation rentals and we learned the importance of trip insurance. The pandemic shut us down and we lost about 4 months of revenue and in the fall we dealt with unprecedented wildfires where the entire town of Estes was evacuated for several days. We actually didn't know if we would have a home to go back to or if any of our properties would survive the wildfires. As the owner of the home, I have done my best to make this house a home away from home for guests. I believe it is the traveler's responsibility to get travel insurance for their trip. It is not the owner's responsibility to give the traveler a refund or to re-book their trip due to unforeseen circumstances. If I re-book your trip for a later date, then I am losing income because now another guest cannot book it. I simply cannot give refunds or re-book due to any circumstances in which the traveler does not make the trip. It's very simple...GET TRAVEL INSURANCE! This protects the traveler and the owner in natural disaster situations that include but is not limited to pandemics, wildfires, floods, blizzards, car accidents, death or death of a family member, illness, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, asteroids, alien invasions, drone attacks, zombie attacks, war, terrorists attacks, riots or any other act of God. Some of these may sound ridiculous, but this has gotten to be a crazy world and anything can happen! Please just get trip insurance and if you decide not to, then do not get upset with the owner for not giving a refund or re-booking. This is my livelihood and I thank you kindly for your understanding and cooperation!

Cabin was advertised on website. Owners were extremely easy to get a hold of and very responsive. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again. The cabin was very clean and the red instruction binder helped make things easy and gave us some ideas for things around town. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a nice place to stay in Estes Park. About 3 minutes from downtown and 10 min from RMNP.

The house was very clean, and very nice. We only used the grill once and not much else. The kitchen was great to have. We met our host when we arrived. She is very nice.

House is cute but old. Accommodations are comfortable. Beds were comfortable and lovely. Windows have no screens nor do the doors to allow for airflow from outside. No AC so coming from east coast the house was hot at night. We would rent here again because it was comfortable and it is super convenient to town and all activity sites. View was nice and outside amenities would be nice if we had enough time when we had been there. There are outside things that need repair - post knobs, paint, etc. But that didn't impact stay or comfort.
