About this cottage rental
This quiet house is snuggled back away from the Leonard boulevard with a beautiful view of the valley. The homes' history suggests it used to be a carriage house! The main house by the road used to be a parsonage, but behind the main house is our carriage (guest) house, so the servants quarters would have been above the lower carriage storage on the second floor. This is where you, our house guests, will sleep. There is a fully furnished kitchen and bathroom (shower only) with comfortable seating on the upper and main floors. Outdoor seating behind the house and on the back patio helps you relax while watching nature and listening to the outdoor sounds. Within walking distance to the local Lamont Park and historical cemetery, you can take short walks around our little town. The house is currently showing it's "age" and we have plans to renovate the attic space. Please keep in mind this is a VERY OLD house and it will not be perfect. There are cracks/paint touch ups and small repairs that need to be done during the winter months when the prime vacation season is finished. But its' imperfections add character, right?

We had such a wonderful time at this peaceful little home! The bed was so comfortable. Everything was as clean as I would expect an older home to be. My kids and I absolutely loved the pool and outdoor deck area. We only saw the hosts in passing and felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was quiet and peaceful, with a nice little patio to drink morning coffee on. It was buggy outside but I feel like that is to be expected next to wooded areas. It really felt like home. If you are expecting a 5 star resort, you probably shouldn’t be looking on VRBO, but if you are looking for a safe, quiet, and comfortable place to stay, you’ve found it here.

The pros are a nice pool and beautiful patio area right by carriage house. Nice yard to walk dogs. Peaceful and quiet area. Some cons are the inaccessibility in the house. It has 2 very high steps to enter the bathroom and open stairwell. Not for those with mobility issues or young children. Only 1 bed. A half futon could be used. Presumably air mattresses available. No communication except the original letter sent at booking. Perfect for those seeking a rustic cottage feel with beautiful outside area. Private and quiet area but fairly close to restaurants and other amenities.

While this was a fine place to stay for a bit, I wouldn't choose to stay here again. The carriage house is cute but older and quite worn down, and I ran into several spiders and bugs indoors. The window AC unit struggled to cool the space, so I had to leave the windows open the whole time—if it had been peak summer heat, it wouldn't have been manageable. The pool was also green and, for me, unusable. Finally, the front lawn features a massive, highway-sized political sign that felt a bit imposing and made the overall environment feel uncomfortable.
