About this house rental
The Big House is a classically renovated 1800s Maine farmhouse in a peaceful coastal setting near Blue Hill Bay. With 8 bedrooms, 6½ bathrooms and plenty of room to spread out, it’s an ideal gathering place for multi-generational and extended family vacations.
The heart of the house is a spacious, well-equipped country kitchen with a 36" gas range, in-island electric oven, two refrigerators, ice maker and wine cooler—perfect for cooking and gathering with a large group. The house is comfortably and thoughtfully furnished and includes Wi-Fi, laundry and plenty of indoor and outdoor space to enjoy together.
Set on 35 acres, the property has expansive lawns and plenty of room to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Beach access is directly across the road, through the property where the owners live, approximately 800 feet from the house. The beach can be accessed on foot or by car and is shared with the owners and occasional visiting family members. It’s a peaceful, lovely spot for swimming, kayaking, beachcombing and enjoying the Maine coast.
The Big House is located in North Brooklin on the Blue Hill Peninsula, with easy access to Brooklin, Blue Hill, Deer Isle and Stonington. Acadia National Park is also an easy day trip.
For summer 2027, stays are six nights, with Saturday check-in and Friday check-out. For fall 2027, we’re able to accommodate shorter stays of four nights or more—please reach out for availability.

Huge backyard for the kids to run and play. Large bedrooms. Plenty of space inside for the entire family (8 adults & 7 children). Entire family really enjoyed the house and yard.

Bill was so friendly told us some places to go and eat. House was beautiful! Just got confused with 3 staircases but learned them quickly! Beautiful front porch to sit on ! House was very clean! Would stay there again . The only thing wrong was time went by to fast.

We and our friends have stayed here many years now. Bill always communicates clearly and in a timely fashion. The home is always sparkling clean. We love the five bedrooms, each of which has its own bathroom. Brooklin is a lovely community, we relax, we enjoy cooking in the big kitchen. Always a wonderful vacation there.

There were 15 people who stayed at the Big House last week and it was absolutely the best place for all of us! Check in was super smooth. The house is so beautiful and spacious! The kitchen was extremely well appointed and had everything we needed. The back yard is what kids and adults dream of, so much room to run around! Our hosts were the kindest people who made us feel like family! I would recommend this house to large families.
