We had a fantastic weekend break in this beautiful countryside barn. From the moment we arrived, we felt comfortable and at home. The barn was spotlessly clean, cosy, beautifully presented, and had everything we could possibly need for a perfect stay.
It was clear that the host had thought of absolutely everything. Not a single detail was overlooked, and the care, attention, and effort put into making guests feel welcome truly deserve recognition. Everything was just perfect!
If you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing escape in the countryside, I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. It was everything we hoped for and more.
A huge thank you to the wonderful host for creating such a lovely place to stay. We would happily return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a truly special getaway!

The room was clean. The neighbourhood has excellent walks and is in a very pretty area of Hertfordshire. I would rate the local walks a 10/10 - they are abundant and interesting. As a loft, the room is in the trees on one side - I personally found that pleasant, especially watching the squirrels - which we do not have in my home country. The room has a kitchenette and a comfortable chair/footstool.
A note for nervous solo travelers - this would probably feel comfortingly safe. A note for independent and private solo travelers - this may not be a match.
The room is above a garage. The garage is next to the road. It is also next to the house. There is morning road noise and aircraft noise. I did get used to it, but for those from a quiet place it may take a little time. The ensuite is very small, but it was manageable as I am also small. There is no terrace for the room, it is a loft room and there is a seat outside on the lawn behind the garage. Other 'terrace' or outdoor areas are with the house, not private for the room. Views are through skylights when open, they are lovely but not through picture/standard windows (there is one at the end, but it looks into the house/onto the drive). The loft room can get very hot and opening skylights brought in mosquitoes. The laundry is used for storage and is dusty/cobwebbed. It is accessed outside, which requires some up and down the steep stairs - not a problem for me, but a caution for those with mobility issues. Overall, this felt more like a B&B than a holiday home. That is a mismatch for me as I don't stay in B&Bs. Adding a daily breakfast and relisting as a B&B may be appropriate.
