Exceptional
The villas are even better than what is shown on the pictures. There are multiple separate apartments within villas. Each one is highly equipped with anything you can think of. The rooms are cool even if the outside is hot. We had a large terrace with BBQ and even an oven for making own pizzas. The pool water was warm and the pool bottom is slanted so it was convenient for both small children and adults. You have showers and WC next to the pool so you can go clean into the pool and your room.
The service was outstanding. We got a personalized message before our arrival that we are expected. Even though we arrived very late there were people waiting for us to accommodate us. The rooms were cleaned every morning or your preferred hours. The parking place more than enough for all inhabitants and is inside the villas behind a sliding door for which you are given a remote control. The hosts were very friendly and willing to assist in any way possible.
The villas are just 1000 meters from the city centre of Grottalie. The city is small but has everything: ice cream shops, pizza/pasta places to eat. The old part of the city is beautiful after 19:00 to walk around. The streets are full of young people and almost every day there was some kind of festival.
We were visiting the beaches which were 25 km away which should not be a problem if you have rented a car or came with own vehicle. The beaches are publicly accessible (no annoying taxes for umbrellas, or noisy bars). The shoreline is usually long and most of the beaches are old which equates to fine graned sand and very child-friendly.
We managed to visit also Leche, Brindisi, Alberobello, Matera each one impressive by its own right. All of them were within 1-1.5 drive. Yet if you do not have time to visit them all I heavily recommend Matera - it is a unique stone city inhabited for 12'000 years.
It was the best spent time and money we ever had.
